A trip to Zanzibar, The Spice Island, was on our ‘to do’ list for quite some time. We spent 10 magnificent days in Zanzibar during November with a mix of sightseeing, diving and a whole lot of relaxing. A semi-autonomous part of Tanzania, Zanzibar is located just off the coast of Africa and holds a population of 1.3 million inhabitants. Its capital, Stone Town, is its center and your usual point of entry. Most visitors travel to Zanzibar to relax after an African safari in Tanzania and will rarely see more than a beach resort. Probably just about any couple’s dream honeymoon destination and what every family needs for a dose of Vitamin Sea! Zanzibar has a pleasing weather all year round due to its position near the equator. Cozy bars and rectos line up this haven with ambient settings to achieve that dream holiday vacation. Whether you’re capping off a safari vacation, preparing to head to one, or simply want to relax in this paradise, Zanzibar will not fail you. There are several water sports activities to choose from and cozy nooks for those who just want to snuggle with a book and mock-tail. You can also go for sight-seeing and you’d be amazed to see its huge Arab influence, the population being predominately Muslim. The oldest traces of Islam can be found in a Mosque at the Southern-most end of Unguja Island at Kizimkazi. Kizimkazi Mosque is one of the oldest Islamic buildings on the East African coast. Zanzibar Stone Town Tour

Morning: Arrive in Stone Town. Take photos of the famed Zanzibari doors, enjoy a traditional Zanzibari lunch at 6 Degrees South, pop into a few shops. Afternoon: In the afternoon, arrange a walking tour with your hotel. Most walking tours will take you to sites like the Old Fort and Christ Church Cathedral. Evening: Have dinner at the magical Tea House Restaurant, arrive at 6 p.m. to watch the sunset over Stone Town and to enjoy a few sundowners.

DAY 3

Zanzibar Spice Tour

We have developed a special Spice Tour with in depth information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After this educational tour, we have a sumptuous lunch at one of the eateries within town, where you can taste the spices and fruits.

DAY 4

Jambiani Beach & Lunch at The Rock Restaurant in Michamvi

There’s not a lot to do in Jambiani, but that’s kind of the beauty of it. You can take a half-day cooking class at Tangawizi Bistro, learn how to play bao at Coral Rock, or just swim to your heart’s content in the beautiful aqua waters. You can’t go to Zanzibar and not have lunch at The Rock Restaurant! The Rock Restaurant is a tiny restaurant perched on a rock in the Indian Ocean, and it’s only a twenty-minute drive from Jambiani.

DAY 5

Nungwi Beach Leisure

Head to the northern tip of Zanzibar to Nungwi Beach, where you can relax, snorkel, or indulge in water activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding. Explore local markets and enjoy fresh seafood at beachfront restaurants.

DAY 6

Dolphin Watching, Baraka Aquarium and Sunset Cruise

Driver will pick you up at the hotel at 7:45 am to Mnemba Island we take a boat to see a dolphin and also we will swimming with dolphin and then we get a tropical fruit to the boat after that we go to get lunch to the island and then we go direct to Nungwi baraka aquarium we swim together with turtles and then drive again for 10 min to Kendwa for sunset after sunset we go back to the hotel

DAY 7

Jozani Forest Tour

After Breakfast, we take you to your beach resort. On the way, you pass Jozani Forest, the last habitat of the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkey. With a local guide, you stroll through Jozani Chwaka National Park and look at the rare monkeys. You also have the option to wander down the boardwalk to the fascinating Mangrove Ecosystem.

DAY 8

Visit Prison Island & Sandbank Picnic

Explore Prison Island and its giant tortoises, followed by a serene picnic on a secluded sandbank. Enjoy the scenic views and peaceful surroundings before returning to the main island for a relaxing evening.

  • Tanzania Visa cost which is 50% except for Canadian and USA passport holders which is US$100.
  • International and Domestic Flights and departure taxes (Quoted separately where applicable)
  • Optional activities and excursions (short safari/tour after your Zanzibar can be arranged upon request at an extra cost).
  • Tips for the crew. We recommend a tip of 25 USD per day for your guide, and 15 USD per day for your cook, to be divided between each member of your group.
  • Inoculations and personal insurance (e.g. Tanzania Visa, Travel, Medical and Baggage insurance, A doctor for the group, Laundry, Souvenirs, Telephone, dive/swimming gears, Beverages (available to purchase) and all other services that are not mentioned as included.
  • Holiday Surcharge : A supplement of US $ 40.00 per person per day will apply to all bookings on the 24th, 25th, 26th and 31 December and 1st January
