Zanzibar’s old quarter, also known as Zanzibar Town, is a fascinating maze of narrow streets and alleyways which lead past numerous old houses and mosques, ornate palaces, shops and bazaars. Many buildings in Stone Town date from the 19th Century slave boom. Highlights include the magnificent House of Wonders, the Palace Museum and the seafront fish market in Forodhani Gardens. The town is situated along the waterfront, and has a number of wonderful cafes and restaurants that overlook the sea and magnificent sunsets.

PRISON ISLAND

Half-day sea excursion, to snorkel, swims and visits the giant tortoises. Picnic lunch in the middle of the ocean with drinks on the sandbank. Prison Island is a popular day-trip destination from Stone Town Zanzibar. Take a boat trip to Prison Island, a 20-minute ride from Stone Town and see the giant Tortoise, these tortoises are gigantic and you can get close to them. Some of these tortoises are said to be about more than 300 years old. It's definitely a place to visit

 

SPICE TOUR

Widely known as the Spice Island due to the abundance of different spices, fruit, and vegetables, a trip to Zanzibar is incomplete without a famous spice tour. Discover the former palace of Princess Salme and enjoy a traditional coffee ceremony, then explore the vibrant spices of Zanzibar, from the pep of the chili to the test of a refreshing spice tea. Taste local dishes at the famer's house (really) traditional and back to the roots.) A trip to Stone Town is an absolute must. Zanzibar has a rich culture and fascinating history. Although people have lived in Zanzibar for around 20,000 years, the real history starts when the islands became a base for traders voyaging between Arabia, India, and Africa. Emerging from its dark past as the biggest slave trading post in East Africa Zanzibar's culture and traditions have been strongly influenced by the traders that settled there many years ago.

Visit Jozani Forest, inhabited by the Red Colobus, an endemic monkey species (only in Zanzibar). Visit Muyuni, Village. The people of Muyuni follow their culture, norms, and tradition very closely. Zanzibar is home to the Zanzibar red Colobus monkey. Endemic to the island, these monkeys are considered one of the most endangered primates in the world. The name colo-bus originated from a word that means 'mutilated' or 'docked' — referring to the monkey's lack of thumbs on its hands. This is something that all species of Colobus monkeys have in common and allows them to use their four long fingers to wrap around branches while swinging from tree to tree. Unlike chimpanzee or gorilla tracking, where your time is limited, you can spend hours with the red colobus monkeys in their natural habitat.

Zanzibar Airport

Zanzibar International airport (IACO HTZA; IATA ZNZ), named after the first president of the island, Abeid Amani Karume, 5 km from Zanzibar City / Stone Town. It is one of the 3 international airports of Tanzania. (Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro being the other 2) The airport itself has the basic facilities to ensure comfortable departures and arrivals procedures for visitors. For longer waits, outside the terminal buildings are a number of cafes and restaurants with good wifi.
